House soiling (urination and / or defecation outside of the litter box) is a common problem reported by cat owners. Determining the cause for this behavior requires a systematic approach which includes obtaining a detailed history as well as performing a physical examination and laboratory tests to rule out a medical cause. In this segment veterinary behavior expert Dr. Christine Calder discusses the case of a 10 year old cat that started to house soil (defecate on his owner's bed). Dr. Calder shares her approach to addressing the problem of house soiling in cats including: - Differential diagnoses to consider including behavioral causes - Separation anxiety as a cause for house soiling in cats including other clinical signs that support the diagnosis, and treatments (drugs, training, and enrichment) Running time: 28 mins Member Fee: $20; Free registration for Premium VetVine Membership subscribers http://vetvine.com/article/181/evidence-based-update-subscriptions)
