Age is not a disease and itโ€™s not a reason to avoid pursuing care for an animal that may be in pain. In the case of pain, thereโ€™s a lot we can do to help. Some treatment options are expensive. Others, not so much. A โ€˜pain med trialโ€™ is an easy and relatively inexpensive intervention that can greatly improve an animalโ€™s quality of life. If the pet shows improvement it can also help the caregivers in deciding on other treatment options to consider in the multimodal approach to arthritis care.
